Willow Lake

Willow Lake is located in the heart of Sugarland Run and is open year-round for fishing, model boating, and non-motorized boating.

Walking paths surround the lake, creating a park-like atmosphere. Please remember to pick up after your pets and dispose of trash in the designated receptacles.

Willow Lake Restoration –
Coming This Year

Sugarland Run is collaborating with Loudoun County to complete Phase 2 of the Willow Lake restoration. This major initiative builds on the completed Phase 1 dam repairs and will focus on improving water quality in our watershed and enhancing the lake’s amenity value.

Phase 1 (Completed)

  • Restored the dam and outflow side with a new embankment structure
  • Removed trees growing on the dam, replaced with grass and native plantings
  • Mitigated erosion using large rocks and repaired the stormwater drain outflow

Phase 2

(Planned for Late Summer /
Fall 2025 & Early 2026)

  • Draining the lake to allow sediment removal
  • Installing forebays (sediment catchment basins) to prevent future buildup
  • Regrading and shoreline re-contouring to improve erosion control and stormwater retention
  • Planting aquatic benching and terrestrial native plantings to boost habitat, water clarity, and scenic appeal
