Willow Lake Update

Plans to enhance Willow Lake are progressing, with onsite activity expected soon. Loudoun County has launched a project webpage at  https://www.loudoun.gov/6258/Willow-Lake-Project, where residents can submit questions.

  • Concerns about wildlife during the lake drainage include that fish will be disposed of, while turtles will be relocated in collaboration with Marymount University and Hawksbill Hope Adventures. Turtle trapping will start in mid-April and last about six weeks.
  • By late spring, equipment will appear on site, and a temporary fence will be erected around the lake. The adjacent trail will remain open, with minor detours in some areas.
